I am debating on doing a Ford 9 inch conversion. I have tried to search for a thread and have not found a good one yet. I am basically wondering if there is a better year of truck to pull them from and also any other tips and tricks.

I used a 9" out of a full size Lincoln. Easy swap and it is only 1" wider than my 68 rear end. The stock e-brake cables worked!!

Did you weld on all of the mounts or did you use a kit of some sort? I could use the inch of width...

I removed all of the Ford brackets and welded on the mounts from early Classics. Also got their Panhard kit.

Are those the lincoln disc brakes?

Complete rear end from a Lincoln. T-birds also had reae discs. They are 70s vintage.

Mine is from a 75 versailles. As stated above, chop the ford brackets (save e brake cable hole)Set your pinion angle and get some early classic saddles and panhard bar/ mount.

Did the same thing for my rear nine as fleetimus. Mine came from a 75 lincoln with a 460 motor.

I was just wondering cause mid 70`s lincolns are not that common around here

Lincolns and T-birds had the rear disc. Have a salvage yard do a search. I believe the Versaille and Granada rear ends are too narrow. Expect to pay from $150.00 to $ 500.00.

How narrow? If you want to put a nice wide wheel with a big lip, these might be nice! Obviously you have to buy new wheels, but who doesnt want to? (want to and can afford to, always the big issue)

What gear ratio comes in the those lincoln rears?

Not sure on all of the ratios, but for mine, from a 75 lincoln with a 460, it has 300.

Ford 9" has a lot of options for ratios. Mine was a 2.73 and I switched it to 3.25.

found one out of a lincoln mark V. The guy wasnt sure on the year but it looks like they only made them from 77-79. Anyone know if that is a candidate?
