Sealed the deal on a 71 GMC
I finally got it the deal done and got her home from Colorado.
So many questions don’t know where to start, but will try this question. I have a used power brake booster that came with truck. How hard is it to replace? Will I need new lines or will the non power brake lines work? Anything else I need to make this work? Finally, how can I test this unit before I install it? Thanks! DMX |

Very nice looking GMC. Welcome to the board. Not sure how to test a boost other than to see if it holds a vacumn.

Re: Sealed the deal on a 71 GMC
Nice truck! Welcome from MD. I am pretty sure the brake lines will work from manual to power brakes.

Well then, how about, MAN, that is one SWEET ride!
Seriously, great lookin' GMC. I used to not like the 4 headlight look, but the more "nice" ones I see, the more I'd like to have one!

Re: Sealed the deal on a 71 GMC
Nice GMC. Make sure you have the rod that connects the booster to the pedal assembly (your non-power rod won't work), unbolt the m/c and pull it out of the way being careful not to crimp your brake lines, bolt the booster and connect it to the pedal, bolt the m/c to the booster and try it out.

Re: Sealed the deal on a 71 GMC
Quote:
The truck came with the protect-o-plate, factory owners manuals + original sales slip on how he ordered the truck (only $3 something new) & the original sales brochure from the dealer. Are you talking about the rod that sticks out of the booster? There is a rod sticking out of the power booster now, but not sure if you are referring to a different rod. If an idintinal rod is needed, can this rod be purchased separately? Thanks! DMX |
