Painting the 69 cst
Painted the 69 CST lst night. What a disaster. Paint looked like melted butter. I'm sick to my stomach. Three weeks of wet sanding, a year and a half of body work. All shot to #@$%%$%. Ill post pics of the mess tonight. Were going back this morning and take pics, and start sanding again. Hopefully can try again tomorrow. Heres a pic before. (The pic is a little old, the primer does match,just two coats). We tried to paint it Chevy 504,with pearl in it. What didn't get a bug in it or didn't run sure popped. We got over half a gallon left. Guess i should have used a paint roller.

sounds like the temps got ya.... 100*+ w/ 40% humidity is gonna cause lots of problems even when mixed right .....

Hope it works out next time....and I agree on waiting till the weather is right. I painted when it was hot, but the humidity had dropped a lot from the prior week. The painter would not paint it with the higher humidity because he said it wouldn't come out right...

Hey,it's time with the boy.When we started this,we knew it would have some really good moments and some not so great but I wouldn't change anything we have learned elbow deep in grease,grime,and paint.Maybe when his boy is sixteen,he'll be relating this story to him.Even better if it is with this truck!(better paint job tho!lol)Nite guys....my arms are tired and more sanding tomorrow.Beautiful color tho.

Definitely like the color...but man....that was laying on the paint thick...instead of four or five light coats looks like one or two heavy coats

Yep, WAY, WAY,WAY,WAY TOO THICK. I made the fatal mistake of having too much help. Family member said he could paint it but in all reality the road to $#!! is paved with good intentions. We spent yesterday sanding the doors, fenders and hood back down to primer. Amazingly the top of the cab turned out pretty good, we are going to leave it alone. But the rest of it is comming off. I got a co-worker that can paint and I think I will tell him that i will fix him all the BBQ he can eat if he will just spray it. And believe me. He can eat more than anyone else I have ever seen. He has HOLLOW legs. I can not do this again. My arms and back hurt. That paint is hard stuff. This was a HARD LESSON LEARNED.
