2 temp sensors? ZZ4 swap
hey guys, its me again. I am getting so close!
sorry to keep bugging you, but I am putting in the zz4 and hit another snag. the old motor had two temp sensors, one on each head. the zz4 only has one. do I need them both?> their is a place threaded on the head, but doesn't fit the old sensor. thanks! |

You only need 1 sensor, the one to the guage. I don't know why you had two previously.
The hole in the heads on the ZZ engine will be too small for the trucks original sensor. No one has ever found a proper sensor with the small threads for a 67-72 temp guage. We discussed this at length one time, on here, and never were able to find a good solution. That leaves putting it in the intake manifold as the only option. Does the ZZ intake have an extra 1/2 NPT hole in it to use?

the zz4 already had a sensor in it. I bought it used.
plus it has a edelbrock performer RPM intake manifold. so your saying this sensor probably won't work with factory gauge? |

I seriously doubt the sensor will work, but if it does, there will be a lot of people interested in knowing what kind it is!

I know there was a member here that had Mike in his name (I know that really helps) that used a Volvo temp sensor for the smaller temp sender hole, and it put the needle right in the middle of the temp gauge at operating temp.
