Did some sandblasting today. I really enjoy the way it removes the years from what ever you point it at. When I told my wife how much I like using it and that it removes the years from these old truck parts, she said she wishes i

t could work on her face. (ouch!!!) JOHN

Better she said it then you saying it about her.
You aren't blasting body panels are you? That can warp the sheet metal.

Your aren't kidding about that one LONGHORN! No Frame and axles only. The body panels are going to a state of the art media blasting shop. I'm starting with a beautiful 67 swb 4x4 and making it even nicer. I'll be posting before and after pics. in the future. JOHN

Cool, I've seen many ppl unaware of the warpage only to discover it after tons of cash is spent and the body painted.
Pictures would be cool, a 67 ssb 4X4 is a tough one to find... a nice one is even harder.

Here is what I'm starting with. It is completly disassembled at this time. tranny and transfercase are done, motor 400 small block is currently being built by me, front and rear axles are done, frame is next, and body is at shop.

Nice GMC!Is it a Custom model?Did it have two holes lined up verticle(for emblem) in the front fenders?

I do not recall about the front fender emblems. I am going without trim or emblems when finished. Already the body shop has welded all the trim holes up and ground smooth. I even had them grind the back sides of every hole. I also had the rockers removed and half of the kick panels. From the out side they looked perfect, once removed you could see some surface rust. Now we'll be able to get in there and remove all of the rust. I will be sending the panels to media blasting soon. I wanted to have as much of the grinding and pounding done before hand. Less to handle once the blastings done. Thanks for the compliments

What does it cost to have a truck sand blasted and prepared for primer?

It will cost me nearly $800.00 to have the whole body media blasted. Thats inside and out of cab and every piece of sheet metal. Doors, fenders, bed sides, bed floor, tailgate, hood, cowl, core support,and wheel wells. A frame and axles should run about $100 sand blasted. Body man loves it, because it makes his work look better in the long run.

WOW!!! I sure thought it would be much more than that. I can't wait to start mine. I guess the real cost is in putting it back together.
