Ididit Steering column ?
Hey guys I'm in the market for a steering column and trying to decide between 3. Summit has a tilt chrome column shift, probably chine*** for less than half of an ididit. Is there a big difference between the two to justify the cost difference? Also looking at a unit from Flaming river, Tilt with column shift. Please let me know your thoughts if you have either.
Thanks |

Re: Ididit Steering column ?
I'm not shure it was this website or another, but there was a long thread about this awhile back. Everyone that used the off brand said they were bad. Downright dangerous.

Re: Ididit Steering column ?
That sounds familiar. Maybe it was a sticky or in the faq possibly.

Re: Ididit Steering column ?
Have used both.. I prefer Iditit. Never had an issue with the FR. Just liked the iditit better.... My 2 cents. Just bought Iditit for my current project. It was a what they called a "RETRO". think it was like $400ish from summint......Casey

Re: Ididit Steering column ?
I also went with ididit (Grant steering wheel)
But it wasn't a typical install. I replaced the stock "outside of frame" steering box with a rack and pinion unit (under the engine) and I ended up having to drill a large hole in the frame for the steering linkage to work. Other than that, it was great.

Re: Ididit Steering column ?
Flaming river seems to be a couple hundred cheaper than ididit. Anyone ever compare them side by side?

Re: Ididit Steering column ?
I have been to the Ididit facility where they had cross sections of a variety of other manufactures columns. For my money I would use the Ididit column every time.

Re: Ididit Steering column ?
I blew $200 on a POS eBay column... And now I just use it for mockup and batting practice. Ultimately bought the Flaming river - s/s unpolished column. I spent a Saturday afternoon polishing it out. Looks great and was easy to do. Used rouge and polish pads on my 4 1/2" grinder from Eastwood.
