Trani dipstick leaking! Help! yes it is the cheap chrome kind.

My trani dipstick is leaking right where it comes out of the trani. Is there a replacement I can buy without having to pull the transmission pan?

I want one that has a gasket where the tube meets the trani.

Thanks guys!

Found THIS ONE will it work?

Found this one too but it seems way expensive at $62.99! seems like you could get a braided one for that.

The top one should work. That is about the price of everything at the dealer too, but the OEM one will have a locking dipstick. The boot type seal should fix your leak. You will not have to drop the pan to replace the trans dipstick, but you will porbably lose some fluid when you pull the tube out.

just because it's a cheap chrome one doesn't mean that's why it leaks. I've got one, had it for years never leaked. The one I got is from mr. gasket and uses as o-ring to seal it and the o-ring is probably not in place or just messed up. I would pull it and put on a new one and maybe some rtv and put it back together. Only thing different about the tubes are the ones that use the boot have a flange like on them and the chrome ones with the o-ring do not. I don't think anyways, if they do, or if yours does I'd just buy the boot and put it on yours. I'd go to the junkyard and get one, probably be free or next to it. I think you might even be able to use a 700r4 dipstick, maybe th400 anything.

No the O-Ring is there and is new. My transmission was just rebuilt and even my guy swore that it would not leak because he fixed the O-Ring. Wrong! Haha! I just want to get a different design all together!

Oh and I do think it leaks because it is the cheap chrome one. Poor design in my opinion! That is why it leaks. I've had numerous people say their's did the same thing.

Thanks for the info guys. I'll go with the top one I chose and hopefully I'll have better luck! Thanks again!

that's what I'm guessing unless it's not seated in it's groove or it's flattened out.

I jacked around with this (on a factory tube even) with my '75 Blazer for ever. It went away after going to the boot seal.

yea I hear ppl bash cheap chrome stuff all the time but I'm sorry all of them I had never leaked. I think you could put a boot seal on it and be done but it's yours and I know mine didn't leak. Everything is different though you get good and bad in everything.
