Help please

I'm looking at a 66 GMC longbed. 305 v-6, 3 in the tree. It runs out nice. Everything works. Is it worth $2500? I'm sure it will sell fast if I don't jump on it.

Re: Help please

Fenders have rust at the bottom. Rockers have very little rust. Everything else is solid.

Re: Help please

I know very little about GMC's in particular, but where can you find any running and driving vehicle these days for $2500 or less? The fact that it's a classic truck, and you happen to be a classic truck fan, puts you squarely in the drivers seat. I say go get it and have a ball! Just make sure it is what it says it is. What's wrong with the hood? That dent in the corner might just poke out ok.
EDIT: the door appears a bit wavy on a second look. What's under the repaint? Even still, it's a cheap driver.

Re: Help please

Seems good to me. I have seen these not running or without engine/trans for $2500.

Re: Help please

These are photos I took. The photos he put on c.l. look a lot nicer. I've driven this truck. It drives straight down the hiway. The clutch had a lot of travel before the truck begins to move.

Here's a photo he took. I didn't think the doors looked wavy, but I didn't check them out that closely.

Re: Help please

Tires are in nice shape and has a brand new gas tank. I'm trying to be level headed but I like the truck. That might cloud my judgement.

Re: Help please

I would say running, it is well worth it. The dents and waves in the body can be fixed if you choose too fairly easy, plus you have an extra hood which is something a lot of guys would love to have. Therefore you are really getting it for a few hundred less than $2500.

Re: Help please

Ok so I took my wife to look at the truck. She likes it... So we bought it and I drove it home tonight! I'll post pictures tomorrow after work. May start new thread. I want to thank everyone who took the time to chimed in. Thanks.

Re: Help please

No radiator shroud? I'm wondering if that is because it has a monster water pump?

My 1965 C-50 GMC never had a shroud. Had they even been invented back then ?

The water pump is not as big as it looks. Actually, the pump is just a round insert that bolts into that big standoff housing. I takes about five minutes to change one once you get the radiator drained and the fan blade off

Nice find! Too bad it's not a four speed SM420, but you'll probably just be driving it on the street anyway.

I don't remember seeing one on TJ's Crustine, so I am thinking they didn't have one.
