Do you have to change the title if you change a cab?
I want to change over to an Air cab. What is the legal way to do it?
Do you just change the metal tag from your old (titled) cab to the new? Or do you have to retitle the truck using the new cab? Am I making this harder than it needs to be? How is this done? |

What if you change chasis from a LWB to a SWB. Does the title have to be changed then?

For 100% legal job, contact your own state's DMV. Try to get a collector's branch of the office, or some one who knows specialty cars.
The VIN identifys the whole vehicle, and the vehicle is technicly the frame. The cab is nothing more than a body part. Be ready to show proof of ownership on both cabs, and if you can't prove it, then don't bother. Personally, i say close the garage door and do it. Just don't tell anyone what you did. If you need your VIN looked at before you can get tags, then go get the truck titled now, and tear it down after. This is what I plan on doing...but you didn't hear it from me. |

I recently bought a 72 and stupid me washed the title along with my jeans. Well when I went to get a new title from the previous owner, I have discovered that the cab is not the same. So all I have now is a title with a Vin and a truck with a diffenrent Vin. I'm having a hard time getting it registered.

if all else, drill the rivets out and swap the tags over , there are a few vendors that sell the correct rivets that you need

cpne If you lived closer to the mass. border you would be my newest best friend.( ha-ha) seriously I had a motorcycle done through a friend in hindsdale n.h. to bad he moved. I heard n.h. changed thier laws that it has to stay registered for six months in n.h before it can be sold in mass. this state is horrible to get titles straightened out. just change the tag and forget it.
