Engines Poll!
How many inline 6, v6, and v8 fans do we have out there? Feel free to put which type you like down such as I like the 292 i6, the 401 e v6, and the 327 and 572 chevy v8's.

Re: Engines Poll!
I'm not a V6 fan at all, but love both the inlines and the V8's. If my truck had originally come with an inline 6 there's a good chance it would still be there. But it's hard to beat a SBC for cheap, easy, and fast.

Re: Engines Poll!
I like them all, they serve a great purpose in many applications. My vote I guess if I had to would be original whatever the truck came with. Yea I know I don't have original but...but...

Re: Engines Poll!
I like a good torque motor like the 292 backed by a 4-speed. Revers like the 283 and 327 don't forget mix the two get a "z28" 302 and 4-speed. Short of a big block 406 revs like a 283 and has torque like its big brother.

Re: Engines Poll!
I like my 305v6 matted to granny 4 speed and dually 14 bolt with 4.11s aka will climb a tree... But ur lucky to get 65 mph downhill lol. Really I like the dependability. You could throw rusty bolts down the carb and it would probably still run j/k

Re: Engines Poll!
I like all 3, but it all depends on what they are in, or going into. For a work truck, especially a C-20 or C-30, I really like the 6-292. All around daily driver in a C-10 Pick-up, I like a 6-250. A GMC truck, big or small I like the V-6, anywhere from a 305 to a 478. A Hot Rod, a Small Block or Big Block. For a Small Block, I really like a 327. A Big Block, I like the 396.

Re: Engines Poll!
350 for now, but plan on building a 383 Stroker in the future... Gotta get the truck built and enjoy it for a bit, get a garage built, then the Stroker...

Re: Engines Poll!
Since I just had my 283 rebuilt and up and running yesterday, I will chime in with "I love my 283!" During the initial 20 minute break-in run, I had it between 2000 and 3300 rpms, but it saw 4500 for 3 seconds a few times. Ooooohhhhh. Yeeesssss!!!

Re: Engines Poll!
The original engine in mine was the 292 ,unfortunately it is long gone. If I could I would put another one in it. Right now it has a 85 model 305 . I am not a big fan of the 305 but I have gotten good service out of it. To me the 283 was one of the best small blocks ever made.
