Motor perches need help
Hello I have a 1963 frame and I am currently trying to put my 94 LT1 in. It is not lining up right at all. I don't know if my perches are even correct. 1. Are the ones on the photo for a 350 2. If not what do the 350 perches look like. Thank you so very much. The photo attached is of the perches

Re: Motor perches need help
What motor mounts are on the motor and what trans are you going with? When you do a swap to an automatic the cross member needs to be cut out and a rear trans cross member installed. I keeping the factory cast bell housing and running a 4 speed it will bolt in with what you have.

Re: Motor perches need help
that is my picture and that is a 65 suburban. those are the stock perches and they will take a 350 with the earlier mounting. motor mounting changed and I do not know the exact year. that cross member with the red arrow is for the early cast iron b/housing to mount on. if you see going to run an a/trans you are pretty well going to have to remove that cross member and go to a rear trans mounting and a cross member to go with it.
I believe the early mount(insulator) will bolt onto the lt1 and then onto that perch. if you want to run the lti mounting then you will have to use the laater type perches that are compatible with the lt1 mount which has the single bolt that runs parallel with the side of the block ron |

Re: Motor perches need help
Thanks yes I already removed the teams mount and bought a new one for the 4l60e tranny. So I need to buy new "different" perches

Re: Motor perches need help
They are both the same size so I don't know if they are correct or suppose to be different.

Re: Motor perches need help
My LT1 bolted to my perches that I had for the 350. I modified mine to raise the motor. I don't have any pics of the original ones. Sorry about that.

Re: Motor perches need help
It looks like the engine is sitting low on the passenger side. But the engine looks like it has the wrong mounts on it for these trucks. I think if you put the early model mounts on it it will sit down like it should.

Re: Motor perches need help
I had to use the mounts off my old 350. There's one bracket you need to grind a little to make the old mounts fit. Did you swap those out?

Re: Motor perches need help
I used the stock mounts from the old 350. The LT1 on the passenger side mounts toward the back of the engine, at least in mine it did. I removed it, modified the bracket for the alternator and used the old 350 mounts.
