What were you doing the year your truck was built?

I have a 1972 Chevy and was in 11th grade and chasing girls.... selling shoes at the local mall and cutting grass to make money. Ah, the good old days.

Very, very few people in my school drove trucks since they were pretty much used for work or farm purposes.

I have a 1972 as well. And I still remember that year.
I was laying in a rice patti cradleing my M-16 in Nam. We had stumbled upon Charlie 2 clicks south of Hanoi, and he was giving us hell. I had already taken a bullet in my leg and had a quick tourniquet tied around it to stop the bleeding..........

Oh wait a tick, I forgot, I'm only 24. :p

In 1970 I was 12 years old and living in the DC area. I remember being very concerned about the Viet-Nam war and the protests in Washington. They were huge and had a big impact - socially, politically and personally. My mom was an RN and a nurse practicioner and was treating tear-gas victims and other injuries at a free clinic in Georgetown. WOW, talk about flashback... Whew, OK, back to Chebby trucks, I remember this BIG kid (all of 17) in his new Chevy truck and - get THIS! I thought the plastic dash bezel looked kind of CHEEZY!!!! LOL!!! OK, so the kid was a rich punk and I didn't like him, and that of course spread to his truck. I should have just shoved him out at high speed and took it!!!
I remember thinking the 50's trucks were the REAL trucks and the new 70's ones had too much plastic!!!! What a crack-up!!!
Thanks for taking us down Memory Lane! Hadn't thought deep about 1970 in a loooong time! H.

I was in Jr. Hi . And there was a chevy dealer rigth across the street from school. I remember a really "cool" blue/white '72 sitting in the front row for along time. Yea a long time back then was like maybe two weeks if that! What's really weird is that on the other corner was the Library. And that's where I ended up working at, and I'm still there . Man how time does fly by. Those really where the good old days for my generation.

1967 I was stationed at Ft. Sill in Lawton, OK - somehow I stayed out of Nam. I lived offpost in a rundown upstairs apartment over a garage with a buddy. I had a 64 Plymouth Sport Fury, 383, torqueflite, bucket seats, center console w/tach that did not work. Radio was an AM with a reverberation option which was REAL COOL for that time. I remember going to the Friday and Saturday night dirt track races with forerunners of todays World of Outlaw cars. Cheap pizza and beer and not a care in the world.

My truck was living its life as a farm workhorse in a small MN town when I was born, and it is exactly 15 years 1 month and 17 days older than I.
