My short bed obsession continues........

Well, it's been a while....the wait is over. The metamorphosis has begun on a truck that I have owned before (Lassie came home) a 1972 short fleet.... 350/350, power brakes, power steering, Plus a Kevin Hernandez tilt and tach. combo, oh did somebody say "Buddy Buckets"? What do you think white walls or slots?

I vote slots this time.Maybe it`s the all white paint. The blackwalls make the aluminum wheels pop and they make the mouldings pop?All white with trim is pure class. But those wheels set it off and it just takes you back over 40 year and back to present without missing a stroke. The width is perfect. It`s so California!...Trucks like that started my 40 year drool.Remember when we called them dish mags or just deep dishes?I say slots for the King!

Special-K, I think you hit the nail on the head, all the white needed was some black. And yes I remember "deep dishes". Boy, I'm getting old!!!!

Being mature is highly overated.....
I may be a gray beard but I prefer staying in touch with the kid in me.

The polished slots by all means over the caps n whites. I had a set of polished ET slots on my first truck in the 70s.
Rene, let's hear a little more about that upcoming truck you hinted at.

I agree with Boog...on several accounts. Those slots look good on this particular truck. Toooooo much white with the white walls thrown in.

And, I am also of the "gray beard" persuasion. But, like I always say "You can make me grow old, but you can't make me grow up!!"

I have always called them dish mags. We had them on our 58 Apache back in the 70's. I never heard the term "slots" until I came to this message board.

So...do you remember "chrome slots"?I kinda wish someone would brim=ng them back.More agressice than smoothies and were as common on muscle cars as all the mags they`ve brought back. They`d be pudy dang cheap, too, compared to other wheels and another way to go for "period correct"...the way to go in my book.
Old school? What`s that? It`s just school to me.

Nice truck, clean truck, but maybe you should take the For Sale sign out of the window and keep it for a little while. I liked the idea of a negative of the black Martinez truck.

The only "slots" I remember were the "razor blade" slots that were popular on Toyota 4 x 4's in the 80's. Are those the ones you mean? (probably not )

out of those two choices slots, but i think a set of rallyes would look best painted white.

I can`t find the picture I have of a N.O.S. set I saw at a swap meet. They were chrome steel with kidney bean holes a bit smaller than in the aluminnyumz. There were also primered 8-lug ones sold found mostly on the rear of work trucks. They were cool looking.Cars ran the chrome ones.I know Rocket made them. This was`60s into early`70s like our trucks.
