Wrangler Gas Tank with S10 Sender?
My gas tank is leaking so I ordered a 87-90 Wrangler Tank to put out back. I have the stock 350 motor now that I plan to run for a while and swap to a LS down the road. My plan is to run a fuel sender from a fuel injected motor with a short pickup hose so the stock 350 pump draws fuel from the tank. Then when I convert to LS, I can drop in a EP381 Pump to "push" fuel to the motor.
Does anyone see any issues with this setup on the stock motor? Also, does anyone know if a 92-93 S10 sender works as far as fuel level reading/sender ohm and the locking plate compatibility with the Wrangler tank? I saw another thread where a S10 sender was used but there was no conclusion to this. Thanks for any information you have. |

Re: Wrangler Gas Tank with S10 Sender?
The jeep sender may already have the right ohm range (0-90 as I recall). From the research I've done, the 91-95 YJ sender is the right ohm range. I'm planning on building a tank using the YJ EFI sender. The earlier version could be similar.

That is good information. I think the issue using the Wrangler sending unit is that a EP381 for the LS will not drop in? If I could use the stock Wrangler sending unit that would definitely save a lot of mixing and matching for sure.

The hole in the tank may be big enough to sneak a pump in if it's mounted vertically on the sender. I'd sure give it a shot. Maybe find a pump dimension and mock something up with cardboard tube? I doubt that pump is more than 2" diameter.

Re: Wrangler Gas Tank with S10 Sender?
If nobody has done an S10 successfully, how about the full size Blazer sending unit? What level of modification is needed on this sending unit to drop in a EP381?
