Urgent help needed!

I need to know the width of the coil spring pads on a coil suspension rear housing. I'm trying to mark the rear wheelbase C/L & need to know this dimension but I don't have the rear end here @ the shop w/the frame & trailing arm stuff.

If someone has one they could measure quickly, it would be a big help. I'm looking for the dimension between the C/L of the u-bolts toward the rear of the frame.... Scot.

The coil spring is mounted on top of the trailing arm and has a long bolt that goes thru the arm from the bottom and there is a metal disk about 3 1/4 inches in width that is held down with a nut to the bolt. The disk clamps the spring in place. The upper portion of the spring is clamped to the frame in a similar fashion.

Mine is a 1971 1/2 ton and this is how mine is designed.

You say U-Bolts. I thought u-bolts were used on leaf spring setup not on coil springs. What year make and model is it ?

Coil spring rears use two big honkin' u-bolts vs. lesf rears that use four smaller u-bolts. Year of the housing does not matter as the perches are the same distance apart (the 71-72 rears just had longer widths).

I gotcha now ! The forward holes on mine are 39 inches apart. Sorry for the confusion on my part

There is a ubolt that mounts the rearend to the trailing arm on coil spring trucks as well.

I show 42 1/4 from outside ubolt to outside ubolt on the rear of a 72 parts truck im dismantling, the rear is still installed thus the outside ubolt to outside ubolt measurement.
