Where to Buy A6 Compressor with switch at 10 o clock for 1972 chevy truck?

I have 3 1972 chevy trucks with factory a/c and all of the compressor switches are located at the 10 o clock positions. I went to Oreillys, Old Air Products, etc and they all say the switch is located at the 2 o clock position. Where can I buy one located at the factory original 10 o clock position?

Do not buy a rebuilt A-6 compressor. They WILL leak. I went through 4 of them before I wised up and went with an aftermarket compressor. In fact, I bought an A-10 from Old Air Products. It fits in the factory AC brackets, is more effiecient, and is NEW and does not leak.

do you have a picture of your compressor ledzepp? also how much did it cost?

and by switch do you mean the 2 electrical prongs that stick up so you can plug the compressor into the A/C harness? if so mine plugs into the 2 o clock position...

I believe camaro2010 is talking about where you plug in the AC harness.
I ran into this last summer when I put AC on my previously non-AC truck. The compressor I used was off a car - a '71 Monte Carlo. It has the plug at 2 o'clock. I have two Chevelles with air and they too are at two o'clock. The reason I looked is that there isn't a whole lot of clearance between the 2 o'clock plug and the fan belt that runs the compressor.

I even tried to re-clock the the car compressor but was not successful.

Based on what I've seen I'm guessing that GM sold truck compressors with the plug in at the 10 o'clock position and cars at 2. Since FAR more cars came with AC than trucks, and the population of rebuilts is based on what was originally out there, it stands to reason that most if not all rebuilts are the car style of plug in.

In the end I used the car compressor with the wires close to the fan belt. After a full year of use, there have been no issues. The picture below is my car AC compressor running on my truck. Looking at that shot it appears the compressor wires are riding along on the fan belt.

If you're afraid of using a car style compressor, watch the parts board for somebody parting an AC truck. If the front of the compressor isn't oil soaked, and when you turn the compressor you can hear or feel that it is compressing, buy it, flush it out, and use it. The compressor from my Monte sat on the shop floor from 1994 until 2011. I flushed it 3 times with AC oil and haven't had one issue.

So THAT's what my problem is too. I have a 2 o'clock car compressor. Dang it. Was contemplating taking it apart and re-clocking the components but... Look forward to seeing LedZepp's A-10 set-up.

I sold the truck I had with the A-10 two years ago. Here is a thread where it was discussed, and a picture of what they look like. If you paint it black, it looks very much like an OEM. They are NOT cheap, I believe I paid 375 for mine.

Thanks for all of the information. I just bought mine from a guy here locally on ebay. It is the A6 and it is at the 10 o clock position. I should get it here tomorrow. You just have to write him an email saying you want it located at the 10 o clock position. here is a link.
