Not my day yesterday
Yesterday was not my day. I was trying to adjust the valves on the big block. Didn't have anyway to keep the oil in the head from overflowing, so I just let it. Well the oil ran down the header tube and hit the hot collector. After smoking for a few minutes the oil cought fire. Whil running for the garden hose I took a bad step and tore a muscle in my leg. Dad got the fire out, doesn't look like the truck was hurt too bad, but I'm out of commission for about 3 weeks.

GO TO THE JUNK YARD AND GET A SET OF BEAT UP VALVES COVERS AND CUT THE TOPS OFF THEM ,AND PUT A SET OF GASKETS ON THEM, PUT THEM ON ...... NO OIL LEAKS

Wow....that sucks
 The valve cover trick works great, if you have a pair of stock covers and can't find a pair to hack up you may want to buy some chrome ones and hack up the stockers. If not i know clips are made for SBC's that make it so the oil dosen't spray everywhere, dunno about BBC's though. Might want to try adjusting them the cold method too.

Oh yea, had to drive like 25 miles away from my house to see a friend yesterday. Went to start the damn S Dime and the starter took a poo poo on me. So no dice on it starting, so I sold it. lol

I did the exact same thing! Went to start my 98 s-10, and it didn't start.. I figured it to be the starter, so i went and bought a refurbished one and stuck it on. I took about 2 hrs to do because there isn't any room in the bay of the 2.2l. I took it the next day to Lawrence Hall and bought a Dodge Ram. I got a gain off of the s-10, i bought it 2 years ago for 3250, and traded it for 4000... I will never buy another S-10, i love my dodge... Just thought it was a funny coincidence. Jason

Well, Had I been around someone that could have helped me to fix it, like with some tools and stuff, but I was stuck, 45 minutes from my house, with no tools, and no money to buy another starter, called a buddy, came and picked me up and was like, hey, you want that truck? lol. I'ma make like a 400 dollar profit on it.. Plus he's gonna help me put together a '72 LWB... if i can get a lil cash to get it.

I split my head open with an axe I was using for leverage against a c-clamp while pressing out axle u-joints yesterday. Luckily it was the flat side of the axe!
Did get both u-joints installed today and the tires back on.

I kept the drivetrain. Body/bad and chassis are gone. 1981 K30, 350/465/205 dana 60 and dually 14 bolt. Has a G80, and a flat bed. Going to replace the flat bed. 1985 K20, 350/400/208 10 bolt and SF 14 bolt. I wonder where I can find some 1 tons. Hmmmmm

Damn Chuck, glad to hear that your truck survived!
Jim......ouch. Did you have to get any stitches? Today I dropped a solid porceline coated cast iron kitchen sink on two of my fingers. My finger nails are black and pretty sore.

HOW! you all have been beaten up this week! I have had torn muscles in my legs they never heal correctly. knee cartilage pops out after running now, legiments were stretched and muscles were torn. This didnt happen while working on my truck either, I was snowboarding, flipped and my board kept on grabbing the snow. then when I was working construction I fell off a roof because some idiot decided not to wait for me to get stable on the beam and the truss turned and knocke me off. my right ankle got twisted and didnt help out my knees to much. but that is all.

i adjust mine with the engine off with a breaker bar on harmonic balancer and height gage on top much easier i think.

I was working under the truck yesterday when the phone rang and when I slid out from under the truck I smacked my head on the frame, no stitches but a deffinate gouge.

Friend of mine had a bad one a couple days ago...got out his Harley to polish her up, big wind came up and blew it over breaking the mirror off. He was pissed, so he put her back in the garage and went over to the neighbors house to help him out...drove the neighbors truck up a hill road while helping, when he got out he didn't quite get it in park, truck rolled down the hill into a tree, smashed up the passenger side and put a big tree limb through the windsheild....said he was going back to bed and stay there. lol
