is there a downside to a smooth cowl?
I am thinking about filling an smoothing everything on my cowl except for the wiper holes and i was wandering if there is a downside to this mod. My truck still has heat so i was afraid it would starve my heater of air.

Re: is there a downside to a smooth cowl?
No fresh air intake. No vents when it gets hot.Not sure how much a/c depends on it.

Re: is there a downside to a smooth cowl?
Factory air uses the cowl for fresh air.Other than that it should be fine. There are a couple posts on this somewhere.

It looks so good that random women will fling themselves at your truck, increasing weight and lowering track times

Re: is there a downside to a smooth cowl?
No way now to catch leaves, pine needles and other crap and have it flow down into the vent chablers on either side of the truck getting trapped and eventually retaining moisure and rusting out that part of the cab inside and out!!!
OH yea...and no fresh air on the floor...........

Re: is there a downside to a smooth cowl?
I did this mod on mine. I haven't got it driving yet, but a friend of mine is a long time a/c mechanic. The only thing we could figure is no "fresh air/vent air mode". Basically you will be running the heat and air in "recirc" mode all the time, which will keep out leaves and such.

No leaves blowing out the vents.
