New purchase: 1974 4x4

Hi, I have been browsing this extremely informative and helpful site for a month.

I figure it is time I posted pics of my new project.

It is a 1974 k10 4x4 with 350 auto/350.
I bought it 6 weeks ago for 1200 bucks off craigslist.org I have done a little since I bought it:

Stepside to Fleetside....I need more space.
Installed 1991 burban doors
Stripped interior and have it all redone now just not installed.
Located various parts....for so cheap its silly (compared to my 56 chev 2 door)
Wheels and tires off craigslist.

Right now the truck is rough, and I am doing very amateur bodywork. I don't want to get carried away as the truck is just going to be a hunting, fishing, camping truck.....
Here are some pics in chronological order.

Re: New purchase: 1974 4x4

I painted the truck this weekend. It came out okay...I would have spent more time working on the bodywork but I needed to get it out of primer before the weather changed....

Now I get to the fun part...putting it back together.

Man i would have loved to get ahold of that step bed. They are hard to come by out here on the eastern side of the country. Nice truck, looks like a fun project, and should be good for all the activities you have planned.

Welcome

Re: New purchase: 1974 4x4

The stepside thing must be regional....I am in central california and I couldn't give it away on craigslist. I was pretty surprised.

I prefer the fleetsides so it was the first thing to go when I bought the truck.

Re: New purchase: 1974 4x4

Thanks for the kind words...and nice truck rollin

I put some of the exterior trim on today.

I wrestled with the front bumper for an hour only to find out that it was laterally twisted and more scratched up than I remembered...argh.

Re: New purchase: 1974 4x4

Thanks for the compliments. It took a long time to pick the color.
The color is a 2003 mercedes pewter silver metallic.
I used dupont chromabase and nason clear.
