Reproduction Window Regulator Quality?
I have been thinking of replacing the window regulators in my 72 c10 and was hoping someone would have an opinion on the quality of the repop window regulators. I see they are fairly inexpensive compared to the NOS sets I have seen pop up from time to time. Is it worth it to try and find a NOS set or are the repops a good option? If so is there a vender with better quality than say LMC and is it possible to rebuild my originals? From what I see they are fairly straight forward and it seems the main area that goes bad are the plastic rollers.

I replaced mine with a set from NAPA. Good quality and fit was perfect.

Re: Reproduction Window Regulator Quality?
I just replaced the rollers on mine. I believe I got the rollers & rivets from Classic Parts. They also have replacement crank gear assembly, but I think it was only for 67-71, the 72 has a longer shaft.

I have been considering this route myself. My windows are a little tough to roll up (thinking the rollers are shot), but I think the regulators still operate pretty well. Just don't know which way to lean on this, and haven't torn anything apart yet.

Re: Reproduction Window Regulator Quality?
I just did mine and haven't installed them yet. Mine were in nice shape other than the wheels being brittle and broken. I cleaned them up painted them and lubed them before replacing the wheels to make sure they were good. I did have several to choose from and used the best I had. If you go this route, check the pricing on the wheels & rivets, ( LMC gets like $6 a wheel )
Classic Parts give a set of 3 for about the same. Get an extra set just in case you mess one up. I messed up 2 rivets until I figured out how to peen them. If you go this route LMK and I'll let you know how I did mine ! Gary

Re: Reproduction Window Regulator Quality?
I bought a drivers side from Classic truck parts of America for my 72 about 3 years ago. I was surprised how well it worked, no problems at all it works great.

Re: Reproduction Window Regulator Quality?
There is a couple different manufactures that I am aware of. Some are better than others. I know most of the vendors here including myself carry pretty good quality regulators.

Re: Reproduction Window Regulator Quality?
Excellent responses. I will go with a reproduction set. Considering the last NOS set I saw on here went for $350 it will save some money.

Re: Reproduction Window Regulator Quality?
Ordered a set, I will follow up when I get them installed. I'm replacing all the weatherstripping as well.

Re: Reproduction Window Regulator Quality?
I am also using the ones from classic parts no problems. Don't waste your money on NOS ones. The repo ones work just fine

Re: Reproduction Window Regulator Quality?
I wish 'brands' between vendors were noted so we can actually compare. I bought a set of counterpart and comparing oe with it they are very similar. The metal on the arms are thinner but the gears and spring seem to be of same quality. They operate nicely just holding them in my hand. I notice it would always get to a spot where it would click as it was retracting. Maybe once all installed how it should be it won't be noticeable. As a whole I've been very pleased with counterpart products
