How many ppl have driven your truck?

Not in it's whole life, but since you've owned it, since it became more than 'just a truck'?
I dropped the one ton off at the muffler joint (reluctantly) and when I handed 'ole boy the key, I realized... NO ONE has driven it but me. My last truck was like that too, not a single sole had driven the GMC the entire time i had it.
She's gonna seem...'dirty' now.
It's bad enough some one else is working on it.

So how many people have driven your rig?

Re: How many ppl have driven your truck?

I worked on mine for 3 years and was the first to drive it, drove it 8 miles to the church for my wedding, well after the service Sharon didn't want to ride in it we had be driven in the Packard Carribean convertible so my dad drove it behind the Packard, that was rough. Since then hardly anyone other than myself has driven the truck. My father and two brothers on very rare occasions but that is all.

Re: How many ppl have driven your truck?

I know what you mean. I actually felt GUILTY when dropping off my C10 to get gaskets changed on my oil pan and timing cover. I didn't like it, but by the time the work was done I had warmed up to the mechanic. He was a cool guy and he enjoyed trying out my PA (loudspeaker) system when tucking her safely away inside the garage every night.

Other wise, I try and do everything myself. I only let close friends drive her, and even then, it's under 25 miles an hour and I'm right there riding shotgun keeping a watchful eye. I'm pretty uptight, I've done a lot of work on this thing. It's kind of like a "Christine & Arnie Cunningham" relationship.

Re: How many ppl have driven your truck?

Quite a few people have driven my truck. I'd say at least 5 or 6 counting me. I've no problem with my friends driving my truck, and I've also driven a lot of my friends vehicles. My parents have also used it a few times, no real biggie.

I've probably had 8 or more people drive my car though. I've taught 5 people so far how to drive a 5-speed in it (including 2 mechanical engineers ), and the rest were just friends DD'ing after going out to the bar in my car.

4 people

My dad, my cousin, and my two best friends. Not even my girlfriend is allowed to drive the truck.

Re: How many ppl have driven your truck?

My current truck was only driven by myself anf my son while I was with him,,, when it was running.

The 66 1/2 ton Custom (283 - 3 on the tree) I owned and drove for 12 years was the same, only I drove the truck and started teaching my son to drive in it. With one exception, I let my (then) sister-in-law borrow it once, of course she was cute and blonde and a truck gal. My (then) wife never drove it, course she had problems getting around in an automatic!

Re: How many ppl have driven your truck?

I imagine that half of the people(men of course ) in my rural township drove my '71 after I put the Cummins in it...............And I'd wager a good chunk of change that 80% rode in it.

Both my trucks, and my brothers seen alot of drivers...........They were farm trucks and all our help over the years drove them at one point or another. Taught quite a few how to drive both 4 on the floor, and 3 on the tree in them. Heck, I remember a few times our #1 man would take our '69 C-10 home for the week and drive it back and forth.

Some think I'm a bad man for not letting them drive my old heaps. I do not have that best friend. I built it its mine. Said you would have a better chance to drive it by not insisting;or asking. Never volunteer .

Re: How many ppl have driven your truck?

With or without permission?

Quite a few with, but there was about three weeks were someone (of course not found guilty) thought it would be nice to take my truck about 120 miles to their home town.....

I have the same problem, except my husband will loan out anything we own...EXCEPT THE TRUCK...he & I are the only ones who have driven it (so far). There are a select few I would trust it with...very few.

Re: How many ppl have driven your truck?

My mechanic who I'd trust with anything and my boss/friend who I'd also trust with anything. My dad also drove it three times soon after we bought it, but I put an end to that quickly. To say he didn't transfer well from new European cars to a 38 year old truck without power brakes would be a complete understatement.

Myself and my mechanic . Not the wife or my girls , they drive my Wrangler a bit in the summer , and it just feels different after . They don't understand the old trucks.

Re: How many ppl have driven your truck?

When I first got the Truck I was determined to be it's sole driver for life but that went out the window after a week of owning it as the 'Ol Man asked for the Keys to take it out for Sunday Brunch. How could I refuse? I'd been drivin his cars for 5 years prior.

Only other to drive it was family too the older of my younger brothers and that was a once in a lifetime thing. The last girlfriend of 3 years never set foot behind the wheel (not even to pretend)

Re: How many ppl have driven your truck?

Me, my buddy who has helped me with the truck since we pulled it out of the pasture it had been in for 12 years, my brother and a neighbor who couldn't resist trying out the 3 on the tree.

Because of the manual tranny and no power brakes or steering, I don't think anyone else WANTS to drive it.

Re: How many ppl have driven your truck?

Me, the state inspection guy twice (how is everyone getting their truck inspected without someone else driving their truck?), my mechanic, my paintless dent repair guy pulled it out of his shop once (I pulled it in), and my wife has driven it once since I did a disc brake conversion and added a power booster. Oh, and my 3 year old daughter thinks that she drove it back from the mailbox.

Owned it since 1996.... I've driven it the most, my dad had put a couple thousand miles on it, and my current girlfriend is the only female I've ever let drive it, and it was only around a parking lot
