th350?

Okay so i bought this tranny awhile back . Its supposely rebuilt and I thought it was a th350 but when I bought a new dipstick&tube chrome from "TRUCK SHOP ORANGE" it didnt fit. WOuld not even go in a slight bit. To my surpise the used dipstick$tube I pulled at the "Pick-a-part" from a 70-72 nova , I believe it was a powerglide fit in this trans. What do i have? I am gonna use it for my just bought inline 250. Might be more numbers but here are the ones noticable i found. Picture was takin a year or so ago by me sorry. Also what is the Green plug for? Thank you and help me please haha

I can tell by the transmission pan that is a th350. They have a rectangle pan except with a notch cut out by the modulator valve.

It's important to wrap your shaft.

Yep that is exactly the one I compared it to. here is the what does fit in it now. Took a couple pictures today of how it looks with the 70-72 nova dipstick&tube. Fits like a glove and lines up withe the bellhousing hole. Still confused on the repo chrome but guess I can get my $15 back

The green "plug" should be made like a loose plastic cap on the tube. This is the vent for the transmission and is needed. If it is sealed you may have leakage problems.

Although I'm not a trans guy, I looked at one that had M7 on it. I found out that M7s came from camaros/firebirds so your M might indicate a car application but I think they were all the same inside.

When I had the sbc350 hooked onto the trans and had it setting in my 67 c10 longbed I had to get a longer front driveshaft and it fit perfect. Now i sold the sbc and am gonna hook up the Inline 250 to this trans. I hope I dont have to put the shorter front shaft back on because man its Alots of work ahead of me. Its fine either way just make me work harder at gettin it on the road. I figured it maybe a car trans.

Same thing car or truck. If that vent got pluged it will leak everwhere.

So i should or shouldnt take the green plug off and leave the other piece on?

Leave the green cap on. It is a cover for the vent so dirt can't get in. It should be kinda wiggley. The hole thing pulls out (cap and little tube)if you want to you can take it out and clean it then pop it back in. You could also blow a little air into the hole on the trans and see if its open too.

Cool yea its wiggly. Its all rebuilt so should be ready to put onto my Straight 6 once I get the new flywheel I ordered.
