1967 C10 "Sinister"
Well, this is my second time being a member to 67-72 forums. Last time, I just lurked and gathered information (under a different log on that I cant remember). Anyway, I am back.. and below is why... *Its good to be back*
When I was 15 (in the 80's) my step dad had a 69 c10 that I LOVED... needless to say, he became an EX-step dad and there went the most gorgous truck I had EVER seen at the time... Fast forward to 2004, I had been through a 67 Camaro, a 68 Cuda, a 70 Z28 and countless Mazda mini trucks. I told my then, 7yr old son, I want a 67-72 Chevy truck. I went away that weekend for work and came back and he had a phone number... it was from a FOR SALE sign that he saw in the back window of a bone stock 67 c10!!! I then baught it from the son of the original owner. It was a "bare bones" stepside, the ONLY options on this truck are 4.11 in the rear and a painted bumper! It had a straight 6 with a powerglide tranny. Baby window, no heater core or any frills of any sort. It sat on stock 16x5 rims (that I wish I still had), huge trailer mirrors and was covered in baby blue. Then the work started... I only have paper pics from the time I bought it to about a year later so, the pics below will start after the motor/tranny swap, primer, roll pan, 15x8 rally wheels, disc brake swap and drop. At this point is where I had some rough times in life and in 2006 sold the truck... a choice I later regretted the below pics are what it looked like when I sold it in 06 TO BE CONTINUED -

Re: 1967 C10 "Sinister"
Ok, fast forward again to September 2011... I was browsing Craigslist and low and behold, guess what pops up? My old 67 for HALF of what I sold it for in 06. I call the dude and its not the same guy I sold it to... he had sold it to this guy. The truck isnt running and has a ton of issues but... at this point, I didnt care, I wanted it back to finish it.
So, I baught it back, she was in rough shape. Barely ran, the rockers and corners are gone, the hood is rotton all the way through and fenders and bed are history... BUT, they only pu about 15k on the fresh motor and tranny.

Re: 1967 C10 "Sinister"
My latest CL score... all of this for $200 not too bad for a truckload of decent relatively rust free parts (the doors have some on the inside of the bottom)

Re: 1967 C10 "Sinister"
Pulled the bed off, traded the fenders for a fleetside bed (most of one) and traded the steps and tailgate for a chrome front bumper and a new dash pad. Not bad...
Stripped the frame and KBS coated it and rattle canned the trailing arms and rear end.... not bad for 2 days of work!

Re: 1967 C10 "Sinister"
Jus picked up my rims from the powdercoaters too.... (theyre 20x9's) they came out awesome considering the chrome was pitting pretty bad... I went with semi-gloss... gotta get some tires now and I can start setting up the suspension. Going to keep the static drop but, with sway bars and a C-notch to bring the back down a little more.

Re: 1967 C10 "Sinister"
Pops, yes it is. Working on this truck got me through some rough stuff. not to mention the blood and sweat. It actually tried to kill me once when I was under it trying to put the tranny in! Haha

Re: 1967 C10 "Sinister"
This is an original Hawaii truck so... Really no need for a heater in paradise. Just a cup holder for a Mai Tai. Ha ha ha

Re: 1967 C10 "Sinister"
Tanks bro. The tail lights are motorcycle tail lights that I slightly modified to fit.... It was a fun idea but... I am ready for the fleet side now.

Re: 1967 C10 "Sinister"
Another great idea for stepper tail lights would be the shot glass tail lights that you can get for custom bikes...
Thanks Jrbeck... I will post as I make progress. Posted via Mobile Device

Re: 1967 C10 "Sinister"
Thanks VA, I am building on a budget too... thankfully, I built the motor and tranny a few years ago and theyre still running strong. Cant wait to get some paint on it though, that purple is just disgusting!

Re: 1967 C10 "Sinister"
Got the 20s on.... need to get some spacers for the back to bring them out about 1.5 inches.... and maybe some taller/wider tires for the back.
I still havent made my mind up on what color I am going to paint it when I am done with the body work??? Any ideas?

Re: 1967 C10 "Sinister"
There's a pretty cool blue/black color that chevy put on some commercial vans in the early 90's. Here's a pic of it on a 55 chevy...
