any other power steering parts needed?
so i came across a power steering assembly from a guys parts truck i may grab.
has the pump(with bracket), lines, pitman arm and gearbox that came off a 70 c10 to go on my manual steer 70 c15. also, they po (before the guy using it as a parts truck) was driving the truck, but current owner never did. so... do the gear boxes usually get alot of play in them? who knows if the oil on it is from the steering or just a mess from the old truck and motor it was living with, so then i may need to throw new gaskets in it. am i money ahead to just buy all the stuff new and spend the extra few hundred bucks? of course then id need to buy EVERY part to make it work on mine. |

I would clean it up,maybe paint it.Then install and see what it does.replace only what needs it.If you have a spotless engine compartment then I would only go new.

You might need the crank pulley for ps, clamp for holding the hoses to the frame, and a belt. I don't know the # for the belt, I need one myself.

ok. ill have to look at the pulleys again to refresh my memory, but i think ive go an axtra grove for it already on the crank. which would be nice since as it seems, the guy has this and only this left.

you can buy a rebuild kit for them on rockauto, might as well rebuild it while its out, pretty easy to do, and there are a couple step by step sites out there that can show you how, maybe get the pitman arm too while you're there

Your mounting bracket looks like it is for a short water pump cause it's different than mine. I have the long water pump. You can still mount it up and see if it lines up.
