Plumbing the poly blazer tank - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

What have you guys done as far as plumbing for the fuel line from the blazer tank up to the engine compartment? Anyone used any of the kits from summit? I know not use rubber fuel line for the entire system.
Truck is a long bed with coils and metal floor on the bed.
Are an wrenches required for an fittings or can you use tubing wrenches or regular wrenches?

Do you have to have a special cutter for the braided line?

I installed the tank yesterday and want to go ahead and plumb it to the engine compartment.

I didn't user a poly tank....instead I used a metal blazer tank....
ANYWAY, I went to the junk yard and got the metal fuel line off if a mid 90's chevy truck. That way it has the inline fuel filter in it that you can get at any parts house. I cut the junkyard line several inches after it connects to the rubber line on both ends, that way I have a nice machine-made metal-to-rubber connection on each end of the metal line. Then I simply clamped it to the frame and hooked it to the tank (it wasn't long enough to run all the way to the engine, so I cut the existing truck line at the right place and conected it to the junk-yard line).
I only had to straighten one or two bends in the new line slightly due to differences in frame shapes.

I bought the 6' length of 5/8" from Napa that have the threaded ends.. cut the tank end and attached rubber to connect to the tank.. in between lengths I put an inline fuel filter, attached to the frame with insulated clamps. Just another way but did do some bending.

what can i paint my gas tank with that wont come off if gas hits it?

Not to get too far away from the subject....but for those who have done the blazer tank install, how did you vent your tank....(Assuming you don't have a factory charcoal canister) When I get close to a full tank, it spits back at me when the trapped air tries to escape.

An option would be a replacement line for a Sub.The factory one should fit just like.......well a factory line.

Use a rubber line and maintain it checking for age old cracking. It’s not going to get spliced by a rock, maybe if you hit a porcupine it might.

I got a coil of 3/8'' steel tubing and fabricated a new line from the fuel
pump back to the tank. It's not that hard to do, even with a cheap tubing bender.

as for venting it, i used a tranny vent cap on a short piece of hose routed along the frame a foot or so.
