5.3 a/c compressor, capable?

Question for the pros out there,,,. Do you guys think I could use the stock
a/c compressor from a 2004 5.3 L to fill my airbag suspension tanks? Any
info will be appreciated.

It is possible but it isnt internally oiled like a york so you would have to use some kind of oiler.

Don't know how much of a PITA it would be, but I had a belt driven air compressor on a trail rig I had. Can't remember the brand...

I agree with blazerboy, everyone I've known that has tried to use a "converted" compressor other than a York has burned it up, even with a recirculating oiler setup. They have all switched to Yorks - which will be your best bet if you need an engine driven compressor. You can get a serpentine pulley for a York from either a Volvo application or a Kenworth application, but it's $100+.

The reason I wanted to stick with my stock a/c compressor is because its already on my engine and since I wont be using it for its original purpose it
seemed convenient to use it for my bags. The york compressor its very nice
but expensive. Thanks a lot guys for all your info
