Windshields, are there differences between the years?

Besides the '72 having the rear view mirror attached, are there any differences between a windshield for a '70 and a '72? Any information would be welcomed.

There is no difference in the dimensions of the windshields. The only differences would be in the tinting of the glass.

The rubber gaskets have some differences between the years and the type of trim they will accept.. but besides that the glass will interchange.

My '68 windshield is tinted a very faint green color. Is there any way to get a replacement with the same tinting on it?

Some windshields came clear while others had a slight tint to them, Others came with a shaded band across the top or both. I was looking at windshields a while ago and the guy at the glass shop said he could order one that was bronzed. It looked really cool but was pricey. When facing the bronzed windshield, you could not see into it. It had kind of a very subtle brassy gold look to it. It would look great on my yellow truck Here is a link below. This place offers custom auto glass. IMO they are a little pricey but there are some good ideas on this site. You can get mostly the same thing from a good local glass shop. I just had new dark smoke side glass made. It's colored in the glass and will never scratch or fade like tinted film.

Some windshields tend to get darker with age---not to be confused with the white they get around the edges as the laminate lets loose. The only other really common thing is that they LEAK! Just look at the two holes GM put in the outer edges of the dash surface---to let the water drain!!!

I have one windshield that is older .. not sure when it was made... but it has a green tint thats darker than the original factory tinted side glass.... I'm saving it for the tow truck. Never seen one with as much tint.
