New Quadrajet 4MV Carb-Need help
I found an identical (by number-17058213) quadrajet carb in great shape (divorced choke and all). Got a problem. The old carb had a direct linkage to the throttle pedal. This one can't accomodate the linkage. Is there an adaptor or do I have to fabricate something. Pictures included.
Truck runs great (just can't use the gas pedal). Thanks!

Re: New Quadrajet 4MV Carb-Need help
If you carefully take the throttle body off the bottom of the carb (you may have to undo a linkage), you can drill out the stud on the throttle lever so that you'll have a hole to put the rod linkage.
Or, for about $10-15 plus ship, Cliff Ruggles at Cliff's Performance http://www.cliffshighperformance.com/index.html can actually attach the throttle lever off your old carb onto the new one.

You can swap out the entire throttle plate section (if all the holes match), don't try to remove the screws that are holding the butterfies on to the shaft because they will break.

swap the base plates. Check the well plugs while you are there, they may be leaking.

Re: New Quadrajet 4MV Carb-Need help
So, I would be taking the bottom off the old carb and putting it on the new one. That's a good idea. Everything should match since the carb is the same model. I was hoping there was a jig or adapter for the solid linkage.
I've got it wired together now so I can drive it but I'll have a look at taking the bottom of the old one to see how much work that is. Thanks for the replies.

Re: New Quadrajet 4MV Carb-Need help
I took the base plate of the old carb and when I looked at the new carb, there were some differences which worried me a little. So, I Macgivered a piece of metal and a drilled a few holes and I'm all set now.
Thanks for the help.
