If the fitting is going into a hole with pipe threads, then a small amount of sealant can be used on the threads. If you are talking about AN unions, or installing the fittings on the hose then you shouldn't need any sealant. I usually spray a little WD40 on the hose so that the fittings go into them easier.
Hope this answers your question

I replaced the steel fuel line in the pic with a earls adjustable unit and was wondering if I should use anything at the carb to fuel rail fitting's?? It also has a provision for a fuel pressure guage what should I use there..

If the new line has inverted flare like the one in pic it is metal to metal, no sealer needed, If the fuel ga. fitting is NPT use should use a sealer. John
