Re: Restoring SPID?

If it's painted over I'd say the original is probably toast. However, there is a guy on here that makes nice reproduction ones, couldn't find the thread this came from but here's a link to his site - http://outintheshop.com/2.html

Re: Restoring SPID?

Try some lacquer thinner, you have nothing to lose. Otherwise contact Jeff as posted above. He makes SPIDs that cannot be distinguished from an original.

Yeah I think I'm gonna try to do that when I get home. Only a few more days in the semester, and then a whole month off to work on the truck!

Re: Restoring SPID?

It would be really nice to have a really good one like the ones I sure Jeff makes.

I used Photoshop and printed to sticker/decal stock for this funny one I put in my truck.

It took way too long to do, scanning what was left of the old one, then moving letters around.
But what the heck? It was better than watching TV that night....

Not sure, I've been trying to get a hold of him for a few months. Hope all is well! He made me two SPIDs last summer, one as born and one for my restoration. His work is amazing. They look exactly like the originals. At the last minute I changed the interior color and I need to get a new one with that change.

Re: Restoring SPID?

Mine was painted over as well and does not have the plastic cover that some of the later models had so mine is toast. I am waiting to contact Jeff until I get the final configuration of my truck nailed down, then the SPID will be redone to match m truck.
