Betcha if you call him he'll tell you restored the truck is worth $60,000 because he saw one just like it on Barrett Jackson and $10000 is giving it away.

Also if you notice, the date the pic was taken was Nov 2008.
So all that rust is now 1 year older than the pic.

To say that, you imply that people who go or have gone to public schools are uneducated which Im sure wasnt your intention and if it was is a ignorant mistake. Perhaps you went to private school where they didnt teach reading comprehension, cause if you in fact read the post carefully he states "matching #s the engine is not in it i was going to use it in a chevelle. it goes with pu." But states that the "ps, pb, ac, comp. not there.". In other words the engine goes with the truck but the listed accesories do not. But I agree if hes truely asking for 10,000 hes either really not interested in selling it, or doesnt know the street value of said truck. If that the later is the case then yes...Thank you Barrett Jackson.

Re: Outrageous cl ad

This truck has a low NADA value of around $15k, and is loaded with options. Probably where he got the figure from. It looks complete. If the rust is under control it might be worth the money to fix it up. High NADA value is $50k.

NADA is absoluty useless on older cars/trucks. I have seen trucks restored to 100% concourse quality that didn't bring 50k on the open market.

You have to look at the market to determine what a vehicle will sell for.

That's what NADA supposedly does... although I agree with you. Especially with the recent recession.

Re: Outrageous cl ad

You are correct, but they still are not accurate. Especially on older vehicles.

I just sold an 06 Silverado. I went to KBB, and Edmunds to get a base value. Then I looked at the regional market for similiar equipped vehicles.

It would have been awesome if I could have got "book" value. The later model market is closer to reality. The older they get, the less accurate KBB becomes.

Re: Outrageous cl ad

Here's one for you... I think he left a zero out of the price. If somebody wants a good $600 truck, there appears to be one here.
