Overhauling Brake System
I am going to redo the entire brake system on my truck and have a few questions. Can I make all my own brake lines or do I have to buy them pre made. How do I drain my entire brake system and what should I use to paint my booster and master cylinder with? And finally, should I replace all back brake hardware and prop valve while I'm at it?

Buying the premade line would be easier, but I made all my own. If you don't have a good bender I suggest to get one. They make the 1/4 line much easier to bend and they can do tight corners with out kinking the lines. The toughest part of the line is to get the 1/4 line across bent across the engine cradle. If I were to do it again. I would run the rear line back the driver side. I can see any problem with that but some should pipe in if there is. Also as a heads up there are special fitting on some of the line. The rear brake hose has two (1/4 fitting to 3/16 line), one of the front has one like this too. Also around the proportioning vavle are a couple fitting. My parts store had to order them in. Hope this helps.

How do I drain the brakes? I want all the fluid out to do the lines and master cylinder. Also, should I use DOT 3 or DOT 5?

draining the brakes?? that's why they invented speedy-dri !!!!
you can open up the bleeder screws on the calipers and cylinders put a hose on them and just pump the brake pedal that will get most of it ,you could put the hoses into little jars and collect it
