Replace glass in West Coast Sr mirrors?

I'd like to replace the glass in my west coast sr. mirror, and potentially have the mirror assemblies chromed rather than painted.

It's not obvious to me how you'd go about getting the glass out, though. They don't really appear to "come apart" in any non-destructive fashion, so far as I can see.

Anyone know how to get them apart? Were they serviced/replaced only as an assembly back in the olden days if you broke one?

I don't know who made yours but most of the ones i have replaced are fairly straight forward. I removed the mirror from frame and unbolted the channel frame holding the rubber moulding and glass. Post some pictures if you can. I don't have any right now. You may have a strange brand.

You can probably take it to your local glass & window store & they will do it for you. That's what I did right before painting.

Re: Replace glass in West Coast Sr mirrors?

little story about my experiance with the local glass shop

I just had my jr rv mirrors redone I'm not quite sure about the assembley differace but these looked pretty easy just a lota peices.

I had went to the local glass shop (b&g glass) for new mirrors what a joke
$84 and four days then they told me the mirrors I have were cut there.
I said "the oe gm mirror's that I bought (from the parts board) from outa state"
thanks but no thanks $84 is two times more than I have in the entire setup!
I have heard bad things about this place but this one takes the cake!
