72 c10 250 starting issue
HI all,
My C10 started running very rough through 1st and 2nd gear the other day but 3rd was smooth. The idle was very rough, then it died and when I try to crank it, nothing happens. No starter clicking, just silence. I recently replaced the plugs etc, and when I check them they were all fouled. But I adjusted the idle so that it wouldn't run as rich when I replaced the plugs. In addition the generator "dummy" light was lit the day it died. Any help will be greatly appreciated here. Also if anyone has a wiring diagram for the motor I could use that to chase down another issue. |

Check your inline fusible link at the battery. Mine died once with the gen light on and the fusible link was burnt thru.

Also, completely remove both battery cables and clean all ends and posts. Sounds like you might have some corrosion. LockDoc

Re: 72 c10 250 starting issue
Classic symptoms of a failing charging system, alternator or regulator.
Engine missing because of lower battery voltage, red light comes on when the battery or alternator fails. No start after the engine dies because the battery voltage is too low. You also need to check and clean all the connections and grounds as Locdoc advised.
