Rattle can blues

A few pictures of my daily driver AFTER the 14yr olds gave it their version of a "custom" paint job while it was parked in a large lot during a baseball game.
NOT pretty, NOT well done, but it is different.
I now have no worries about finding my truck in a crowded parking lot!
Oh well-it needed a new paint job anyway I guess I will have to move "paint truck" a little higher up on my to do list.

they should of converted it to the general lee, that couldn't have been hard with a base orange.

Your right that would have been easy and probably would have looked a lot better too. I guess they were in too much of a hurry to do anything really nice or creative. At least the truck doesn't have any chrome that will have to be cleaned.

Well seeing as I need a new paint job can anyone recommend a nice looking orange color? I am thinking maybe a very bright orange metal flake would be nice.

I like both Hugger Orange and the lighter orange found on these trucks. GM Vista Orange is really bright, and a board member here (can't remember who ) painted their truck this color. IIRC it was offered on city work trucks in the 80's. If you don't mind straying off the GM line, Ford Calypso Coral is really nice. As for metallic oranges, I have seen some real nice ones at car shows, but not on production vehicles..the ones offered seem to be more copperish than orange. Maybe a trip to an auto paint store to look at some chip books would help?

Try Vitamin C orange....Dodge used it on the Roadrunner in the early seventies...It really screams orange.

If you want to float the big $$, House of Kolor Tangello pearl is the ticket. That new Dodge truck orange is cool too. I think there's some new Mitsu Eclipse orange out there also.

Is the tangello quite bright? Is it a true orange or does it have a copper look to it?

rubbing compound will take your "new" fancy paint right off. Might work wonders on the old paint as well. If you dont have that much ambition, brake cleaner will work 100 times faster :P
