Opinions wanted. Dog Dish VS White late model with cap.
Well I had an idea last night. While not really digging the late model GM aluminum wheels as far as looks (the clear coat is peeling), I do like the fact they are lightweight, and all of the advantages of aluminum. So I took a can of Rustoleum Flexidip and this is what I came up with.
Opinions? Which do you like better? Any comments will help. Im leaning towards having the aluminum wheels powder coated white and running them when I get new tires. Thanks!

Surprising enough the newer models look pretty darn good painted. I like both looks, I have the newer wheels on my truck, and with my color I think they make it, but I did love the hub caps also, so I am not much help

I have been kicking around a similar idea. Its always a plus to reduce the unsprung weight for a number of reasons. I would like to see the Aluminum wheels in a powder coat silver/gray. I like the white wheel with the dog dish much better.

I have a 72 with the newer style, but they rub on turns. Have you checked for clearance on 81-87 trucks?

The newer wheels get my vote. They would be even better with the dog dish caps.

While the late models look a lot better than I thought they would painted, I still go dog-dishes....

if you had them powder coated white, you would probably never see another set around. that is worth some points in my book, not too mention they don't look half bad on a square body.
however, you can never go wrong with a dog dish.

I like the older ones but the issue I had was the 16.5 tire size, it was getting harder to find the that is why I opted for the newer aluminum rim and they are so much lighter
