Temp gauge not working

Another question for the masses. I noticed today that my temp gauge is not working. The needle is pegged out past hot. The wire from the block to the firewall is intact so I'm thinking, again, that the connects are corroded or it just got knocked loose under the dash. Another thing added to the to do list.

Measure the resistance of the sender and make sure it is within tolerance. Most likely you need a new temp sending unit. Had to replace mine for the same reason.

Re: Temp gauge not working

Something somewhere is grounding the green wire. Could be the sender, could be a short elsewhere. But the gauge, if not defective itself, is seeing ground or close to it.

yes I agree:

Pull the wire off the sender and watch the gauge. If it stays hot the gauge wire is grounded or the gauge has gone bad. also Ohm the sender as said above with the engine cold, and if you get low ohms between the sender wire connection and the sender body, the sender is kaput.

Re: Temp gauge not working

Thanks to all. I'll test it when I get home. Should be an easy fix

Re: Temp gauge not working

I got my gauge working today, it was a loose connector. I replaced the sending unit anyway, since it was the original
