going a different route with the rat rod

yup.........

i got the bug bad from the goodguys car show. i now want to go back to a stock outside look with a corvette red(i heard it makes it go faster), bag it 4 corners(for the awesome ride characteristics), and lower body trim with staggered 20's.
i am ditching the 69-70 grill and going back to my 72 exterior!

i talked to the guy that is going to paint my truck and he said red is more expensive than black.....

what do you guys think about my new direction?

im about finished with my full custom tan leather interior...
i bought a set of billet boyd coddington 20x10 and 20x8.5 fury rims and tires already, and i have 80% of my air bag stuff.
what other colors/suggestions do you guys have?

i am all brainstormed out!

thanks again bro-skis! you know you guys rock

Re: going a different route with the rat rod

I went to the spring show in Daytona the other weekend and all the 67 72s I saw were red.
So Iam going with black as a better choice.

I think red is the most expensive regular paint you can buy... I talked to a bodyman friend of mine and he said that paint products were going to almost double in price the 15th of this month. If you need paint I would think about getting it... He has been paying $24.95 for 5 gallons of thinner and the guy at the paint store told him after the 15th it will be $52.50.

Good luck on your project.

Re: going a different route with the rat rod

Any time you are talking about paint, If you put a factory name in front (like Corvette Red, Or Lambo Yellow, Ferrari Red) it will be expensive. You can find a color that is close or custom mix for much less. Find a good autobody supplier in you area.

Re: going a different route with the rat rod

Red, no matter what name or brand is the most expensive because of the pigment used to make it purple and some blues are right in there also price wise. Got that info from a Dupont paint rep.
