Tire Size Question

I have a 1971 chevy stepside. I will be using 10" wide rims (15"). What size tire looks the best in the back and front?? I would like something that looks a little fat in the back.

Re: Tire Size Question

Think it depends on how low your truck is.... I don't think 10in up front will work on lowered trucks, I've only seen 8 in rims (though you can put 275/60s on these too).
I have a truck out back with 275/50s on front (old TA Radials as I don't think they make that size anymore). I don't think they're 10in rims though

Re: Tire Size Question

I had 9.75 rims up front on my old GMC, the front was lowerted about 3 inches due to 500,000 miles of driving on the original front springs.
I never tried wide tires up front... I think a 235/65 was what I did up there, but it's been a while.

Re: Tire Size Question

I've always run a 275/60 on a 10" rim on my truck. It's lowered 3" coil drop all around. Actually think its dropped a bit more then that.. cheap aim springs. I've never rubbed.

Don't know but I had 10" tires on the front of my last '69 and they did rub on tight turns while parking etc.

Re: Tire Size Question

I'm only running 8's in the rear as well as 8's in front. I'm running a 275/60/15 rear and 255/60/15 steer. This pic is with a 3.5/4 drop. It has a 3.5/5 dsrop now but I don't have good pics yet.

IMO, 10" wide wheels in front just don't look good. If you like the way it looks and want to do it, then do it. I've just always thought 8's in front and 10's in the rear always looked the best.
