Was This Factory Paint???

This may need to be in the paint forum, but I thought it was more a question of originality than "how to."
When I began to break down my old interior I noticed that the paint under the dash pad does not extend all the way to the windshield - See Pic. Is this normal, maybe a base model paint job? Every other pic I look at appears to have the paint all the way across the dash. Anyone else seen this?

Re: Was This Factory Paint???

The area between the dash pad and the windshield was always the color of the dashpad.

What he said. If you've seen the dash painted body color to the windshield it was done by the owner, not original.

Unless sandalwood, parchment, etc which in my experience have had flat black painted between the pad and windshield to prevent glare

My 71 C20 had the tan colored interior and that area isn't painted black. It's a much darker shade of the tan from what I can tell. (dirty)

Even the sandalwoods that I have seen have been sandalwood.

My plane jainer has black there. Our plain jane feed truck is black and our custom grain truck is black. Maybe just the fancier ones were that way??

Re: Was This Factory Paint???

I guess someone flat blacked the one I had at some point but the paint line was under the dash pad and looked factory? Surprised someone would have gone through the trouble to remove the dash pad...
