New truck, new member, few questions too. Canadian GMC content
Hey guys, new guy here with my first one of these trucks. A little while ago I sold my 2014 Tacoma because I was sick of making the massive payments. I build motorcycles and it's nice to have the longbox because I can drag bikes around with a closed tailgate.
Anyway the truck is (seems to be) a 1969 Canadian spec GMC 1/2 ton Sierra Grande with the Custom Camper package. 350/TH350. The badges say 910, which I understand was the Canadian nomenclature for the c-10/1500 trucks. Near as I can tell, the SPID backs up the badging and features. Nearly everything inside works the way it's supposed to. I'm not sure if the paint color is correct; I doubt it - it's definitely been repainted at some point. SPID says "1001MI SPECIAL PAINT" so it's possible but have no idea. Plans for the future are to lower it a little, get some new era-correct mags or steelies & white letter tires, and disc brakes up front. Also power steering. I live in the city, so the manual steering is killing me with parallel parking and etc. I've heard that any power steering gearbox/pump setup from any of the c10s up to the 80s will work on these trucks, is this correct? |

Good looking truck.
If you contact; Vintage Vehicle Services in Oshawa, they can supply the build information on these trucks. I am not 100% sure that they are still in existence though. I was able to get the info for my CDN GMC from them a few years ago. www.vintagevehicleservices.com

Welcome. That is a nice looking truck. Cant help you in confirming the power steering as the truck I'm working on had it from factory (69 GMC). but you may need to get a stand off bracket as the power steering gear would may not sit flush against the frame rail without it. But like I said I'm no expert. There is a ton of info on the site though spend some time searching and you should be able to find the info you need.

Are you sure it has been repainted? There was a 'special color' (Canadian) very close to that, if that isn't it. Yes, on the gear box, but the fittings went from SAE to metric either '76 or '80, not sure. Hoses can be made with different ends or use later pump/later hoses. Looks good to me! Nice truck

Welcome to the boards. Nice looking truck and you have joined the best website on the internet. Anything you need to know about this trucks you can find here 99% of the time. If you contact the GM heritage site you can get print out for you truck which will list exactly how it was built and who was the selling dealer ( see picture )
As for power steering , check the For Sale section on the site as a lot of trucks get parted and you can probably get all the parts you need to add power steering very close to you. You are blessed to be in Vancouver because there are quite a few 67-72 parts vendors in Washington State and Oregon and they are solid honest reliable people. Get your parts from the US shipped to Blaine then go get them.

Code SP0025 was a Canadian Green and White Two-Tone "Special Paint".
Look into DuPont Canada numbers Green 4955 (Lucite) DUM 2285 (Dulux) White 817 (Lucite) DUM 1699 (Dulux)

Nice GMC and welcome to the forum.
Relatively speaking...there are a fair amount of 'Classic Canadian Truckers' here. Either way this it the place to be for excellent help and information on anything you take on with respect to these trucks...really great group. With respect to your truck...nicely optioned and interesting that the original owner didn't bit on the power steering however...yep...it pretty easy to find that set up and get it installed. Welcome aboard. All Good Coley
