Anyone that have or had a T221
Which is the easiest t-case to replace a Rockwell T221 on a SM420?
[NP 205, 208, 231; Dana t-cases...] My T221 is working, but i been looking just in case, and just the couplers are expensive. Thanks.

I'm thinking your probably going to have to switch to an SM465 to mate up to a more plentiful later t/c. I'd find a SM465/NP205 combo and throw that in when you need to - that's what I'm presently doing.

Re: Anyone that have or had a T221
mmm, well, that dont sound bad. Im going to hunt for a spare t-case and sm420, maybe from selling that in the future i get some money to buy a brand new sm465 that for some reason cost about 300 dollars less than the sm420.
Thanks.

Re: Anyone that have or had a T221
I can't remeber where I saw it but I believe there is a place in Denver that will take your SM420/t221 and completely rebuild it and make it beefier. Guy I work with has a 420 in his jeep and he keeps talking about getting it doen, I will ask him tommorrow. I have a 420/t221 combo, works good, but does your 420 howl in 4th? Mine has a high pitch howl at about 50mph, 4wheel and 2wheel doesn't seem to matter.

Re: Anyone that have or had a T221
Well, for parts for the T221 i would say so far Drivetrain Industries have not disapointed me, they even have the front output yoke and the seals.
My SM420 is fine, just some worn gears and i think is missing the clutch for one of the synchros, but it works; no hard shifting, no jumping gears; the t-case is almost inmaculate for having about 42 years. At around 40 mph the t-case makes a noise but i dont know what it is, the shifter starts to shake making kind of a clicking noise, that stops when i hold the t-case shifter. Quote:
