TV Bracket question
Ran into a problem with my 2004r install that I was hoping yall could help me with
The bracket I got from BTO doesn't work. Doesnt fit at all, as is obvious from the pics. The shop who's doing the install (I have neither the time nor the space to do it) can't get it to work either. The carb seems to be kinda a mix and match of different carbs, so I wasn't sure what bracket to order. I sent the pics to BTO, but in the possible event that they do not have an answer, any idea what bracket I should be using, and where from?

Re: TV Bracket question
The pictures is the install guide do not match my carb either. The carb linkage is totally different

Re: TV Bracket question
Could be a pain. But then if you don't get it right the pain is in your wallet when the tranny goes "BANG".
Might be able to build a better bracket on your carb. See what bto has to say. Your carb is just a normal quadrajet set up for a turbo 350 kick down hook up. |

Re: TV Bracket question
If you check around the wrecking yards for a mid 80's Caprice or Monte Carlo with a carb and a small block you can take the stock bracket and you might be able to carefully remove the arm from the carb that matches the TV cable geometry and install it on your carb.

Re: TV Bracket question
Will 700R4 TV brackets, etc work with a 2004R?

Re: TV Bracket question
I see that bracket is under the carb. Are the other three bolts shimmed or something? What am I missing here?

Re: TV Bracket question
I didn't notice that, the shop did it. I was mainly concerned with the TV adjuster thing (last pic) not fitting right. But your right, I think it should be on the top.

Re: TV Bracket question
Glad you see it is in the wrong place. I would also, as suggested, get a bracket from a Q-jet Monte Carlo or similar.
Where did your TV cable come from? I have never seen one that didn't have an attachment point like the lower pin on your carb. I think your TV cable is missing a piece.

Re: TV Bracket question
that looks like the same bracket on my wifes Blazer,
your carb is a different model than mine, You need this "TV made EZ" kit for your particular Q-jet: http://www.bowtieoverdrives.com/cata...php?ITEMID=221 The little gold bracket in your forth picture is for a braided throttle cable. http://www.bowtieoverdrives.com/cata...BCAT&CATID=WA4. The last picture (sitting on your radiator support) is the bracket that bolts to the throttle arm on your carb (which may or may not be the correct one depending on which kit you ordered) To use your original throttle cable you should be able to use the original cable bracket bolted to the rear carb hold down bolt but the cable may not want to work well with the pin on the throttle arm on your carb. You may want use one of bowtie's square holed throttle cable brackets and upgrade to a later factory GM truck throttle cable |

Re: TV Bracket question
I got it straight from BTO, along with that adjuster. I am assuming either I recieved the wrong one, or I ordered the wrong one.
I think Im just going to have them install the TV cable (with the attachment piece) I got from my dad and go from there. BTO seems clueless as to why the adjuster piece doesn't fit anyways

Re: TV Bracket question
Oh the throttle arm thing on the radiator doesn't screw on to the bracket. The screws they gave me didn't fit at all, strange as that sounds. None of us could get it on. Im just going to find some screws at Home Depot though. Im really not sure why I posted that pic...
The main issue is the 'linkage adapter' doesn't fit onto the carb linkage. I was positive I got the right kit though...

Re: TV Bracket question
yes, you do have the wrong one.. this is the one you need
http://www.bowtieoverdrives.com/cata...php?ITEMID=221 You might give them a call and see if you can just swap out the throttle lever brackets for the correct ones |

Re: TV Bracket question
Yeah I just realized that once you asked what I had ordered. Ugh, Im sure I ordered the one for the 1902, cuz I was originally going to swap it myself and spent quite a bit of time researching this.
Well, thanks! At least now I know what is wrong

Re: TV Bracket question
one other option is to swap out the throttle shaft and lever from a 1910/1901 onto your 1902/1903
