C/20 to C/10
Ok I've gone through several parts catalogs and web sites and most products are for C/10s what is needed to transform a 20 to a 10 I know early classics has a 20 to 10 package that will change the front end from my 8 lug drums to a 5 bolt disc but how to get matching bolt patten on the rear. Is there anything else that needs to be swapped out changed etc...I love my C/20 but would like to be able to drop her and have the stablility of disc brakes any suggestion ideas or comments are welcome
BTW she has coils and drums alll around

8 lug disc brake complete front crossmembers are as close as the wrecking yard. You can drop it a few inches with different springs. Dont screw up a good 3/4 ton.

I agree...plus, there may be some legality issues in your area.

71 up to early 80's should be a slam dunk, maybe up to 87.
You could get (expensive) awsome drum brakes that will last 100,00 miles, and stop you almost as good as disks. This is the plan I have for my one ton once it gets on the road. http://www.praisedynobrake.com/ |

You can use just about any old 73-80something 8 lug 3/4 ton chevy or GMC truck. Hell, someone is usually trying to give me one about once a month. I see complete trucks in the paper for $200 or so with bad or no motors . Thats your best bet. get a complete 3/4 ton truck and swap the parts then. You'll have to drill a few holes for the crossmember once you get it in place but its no big deal and its certainly easier than swapping spindles although thats really not that difficult either. You will need to change master cylinders and proportioning valves to match the discs.

Pics of a "screwed up good 3/4 ton! http://community.webshots.com/user/hotrodhorn Bear in mind that we dont have inspections on private owned trucks in Illinios, & this old truck is not a hauler anymore, just a toy. the complete swap is a bolt on deal with a 71-72 parts truck, & you will have disc brakes. i do agree with the other guys that for a hauler, a 3/4 or even 1 ton truck is the ticket......depends on what you want. ...crazy AL

I see melloyello is from Spokane. We dont have vehicle inspections in Washington either .
I'll be honest. To me lowered trucks are really dumb looking ( rice-ish ) but I like the lines of that lowered longhorn. Makes it look even longer than it is. Kind of like the 59 caddy of trucks.

Hey I have a disk brake complete frontend out of a 72. If you are interested let me know. I would make you a very good deal. I don't know about shipping it though.
