Suggestions regarding shop space....

I'm moving to Texas in a couple of weeks (obviously suddenly and unexpectedly) to a house that has about 2/3 of a single carport and no other work/storage space...other than the obvious like using rental storage space that doesn't have power available, does anyone have any suggestions regarding locating and leasing or buying shop space of 2 car garage size so I can continue playing with my truck/cars/motorcycles? Packing all the stuff in storage is a terribly depressing thought....

Temporary idea could be a portable garage. The cheap ones aren't that bad

I got a cheap one I'm using for body panels and a paint booth. Then I'll sell it.

I too have the same problem. I sold all my cars (4) before coming here. I kept my Blazer. I have a garage but it barely holds the car. No room to work and I just found a 67 short bed I'm trying to buy. Don't know what I'll do with it.

You could try a heavy duty tarp and some 2x4s to make the carport into a more secure spot. Is there outside parking for the car? Friend of mine did that with a carport and it was as close to a garage as he could get where he was at the time.

Thanks for the responses so far! I'm hoping to find someone with a large shop that has a couple of empty bays...but I kinda suspect that empty bays tend to have a very short lifetime....

You might try placing an Ad in the local Easy-Ad type publication. Maybe in the auto or tools section... that way maybe the right people will see it.

It's probably not going to be real easy, but what you need to find is an old widow lady in an older neighborhood with detached garage she is not using. Chances are there is electricity and the rent could be reasonable.
