I added hp, now I need to add cooling.
I'm almost done installing my new engine and I'm a bit worried about the amount of cooling I have. My new engine is about 410hp and I'm running what I believe to be a 4 core radiator. My previous setup ran a 18" clutchless fan with out a shroud. I was thinking about just adding a shroud, but at $70 for the shroud I was thinking about skipping the shroud and going straight to an electric fan set up with the appropriate shroud. Although I'm hoping to keep the cost at less than 3 bills.
So the question is, how many CFM's does the electric fan need to cool my blazer? Do I need a dual fan setup?

That sounds like more than $300.

Re: I added hp, now I need to add cooling.
if you current rad is a 4 core install the OE style shroud and you should be OK, but I would also install a electric fan on a toggle as a backup in a "pusher" if you get stuck in traffic. my 71 does fine with out the back-up but my 66 van needs it. both run the factory setups. My 66 has the extra fans to push air up to the rad when I get stuck in traffic

I just ordered this one from flex a lite http://www.flex-a-lite.com/auto/html...-electric.html I run a 2200 cfm 16 inch fan with shroud and the temp creeps up when stuck in traffic

General rule for V-8 is 2800 CFM puller, pusher's are for assist cooling. The more HP, the more you go. It's should also cover at least 70% of the radiator.
