joining the suburban herd

well i got one finally its a 1961 chevy suburban. i drove 14 hours round trip to get her but its worth it in the end here are some pics to get started with.
i plan on a 5.3 vortec motor. an airbag suspension to lay out like so many others. but i would like to do away with the tailgate an use a set of barn doors cut in half like a astro vans rear doors any sugestions welcome.

Re: joining the suburban herd

It's a GMC. GMC dash with a Chevy instrument panel inserted.
The guy in Manitoba is cutting up a cab for the BBW for me. He says the piece above the windshield is good. You should give him a call. The pillar pieces as well. Mike 1-204-995-7880

Someone primed over the Aluminum tail light bezels, I have a pair if you need them. Got them for someone else and now he doesn't want them.

Looks like a nice project with some work cut out for ya. I would hang on to those tail gate doors btw. They are worth money to the right people.

Re: joining the suburban herd

Well go with the title but it's a GMC for sure. Here's a picture of a 60-63 Chevrolet dash.
Notice the double humps.

I'm sure a lot of people will have interest in those seats, but be aware of the rules about being a supporting member before you can place for sale ads.

Re: joining the suburban herd

That's why the Tread for Elusive Parts was shut down. To many non supporting members asking for parts. I really liked helping others with parts they've been looking for as well as having multiple people searching at the same time. In the short while that it was operating we found hubcaps for one guy who's been looking for years and even for myself a A/C drier that I've been looking for for over 25 years and indirect leads between other members that simply were not mentioned. Shame that the sense of community that was building in that thread will be lost.
