Anyone made their own bed floor???
I was thinking about trying to make my own bed floor out of some aluminum as it is pretty beaten up and then have it rino lined.
I really like the look of the wood floors but I use the bed of my truck to haul engine parts, feed, lawnmowers, etc so Im going to stay away from the wood beds. If you have a pic please post it.

This is what I made for mine. This is certainly not done yet, though.

Hey that kinda reminds me of the back of my 72 camaro
Ahhhhhh I love tubs. But I was wondering how well a flat floor made of aluminum would hold up when being used alot for hauling heavy parts etc. I know the framing under it would help but I dont want a warped rino lined aluminum bed floor

I made a floor from steel diamondplate. I'd say it will be in the truck long after I'm dead and buried... no matter how much abuse it gets. For a stepside, it's an easy task to have a steel supplier cut it to size and you just toss it in there. For the fleetside there's a little more work, but nothing that should take too much effort.

My stepside has 1/8" thick stainless steel for a floor. (in it when I bought it) I plan on putting in a rubber mat over it as it gets slick as ice when wet. I never have to worry about it rusting anyway.
If you want durability, stainless is really tough! This bed floor will be here longer than all of us! LOL

Re: Anyone made their own bed floor???
previous owner of my pickup welded a steel sheet over the top of the wooden bed. very durable and strong, but a pain in the arse for me to grind off and remove.

Re: Anyone made their own bed floor???
i put a piece of 3/16" flat plate in my stepside bed and used 3/4" sq. tube on top of the cross sills to support it.

Re: Anyone made their own bed floor???
Mine will be bagged with a raised flat bed floor. I am wanting to do 1 solid flat sheet. I will have a grid type pattern under the stainless floor with angle around all 4 corners. I will also be doing a cali combo and have the fleet meet up to it. I will also have a rubber strip down for squeak and stuff with stainless bolts/screws holding it down with lock nuts tack welded underneath. I want the sheet removable to access anything under it.

Re: Anyone made their own bed floor???
I remember a member here that made his bed using some newer type composite material like they build decks with. I will see if I can find it

Re: Anyone made their own bed floor???
If you build a decent frame under it you should be fine. These are some pics of the frame I did in my Suburban. You can see more pictures in my build thread.

Re: Anyone made their own bed floor???
Looks good Bruin. That's what I was thinking about doing on mine. I do want to make it removable though. So instead of welding it to the grid I will bolt it down with SS fasteners.
