It looks like you took advantage of the nice weather and worked outside, what kind of paint are you going to use?

Yes it is Joe. I will post a pic of what comes next.
Rob, I do not know yet. Since you and Joe are both here, what do you guys think? No powder coat. Black. I want it to hold up well and be able to clean up and touch up if needed. (gravel roads you know) I was thinking of spraying the Eastwood Black. Is there a better choice?

I was thinking of using the new Hardnose paint by POR-15 on my next project, it sounds like some tough stuff but havent talked to anyone who has used it.
Anyone here used this or any of the POR-15 products? http://www.por15.com/product.asp?productid=249

POR15 is some tough stuff and that Hard Nose should be great for your axle housing or any other chassis parts. POR is a Beech to remove with paint stripper and I've even had difficulty removing it with my sand blaster. Downfalls come when you try to paint in humid weather the whole batch may be ruined if you stir it and introduce moisture from the air into the can it can harden.

Hey Meathead, how you been? Found a couple sets a while back and jumped on them. Do you really want to know $? Got the housings, gears, Chrome rings and Blue knobs. I also have and you can see the gaskets, seals, bearings, inner and outer shaft deflectors, bronze washers and more. Should be pretty nice and the old parts are well worth saving and cleaning up. Nothing wrong with the innerds of the old stuff. Should be able to make another nice set.
Hardest thing to find right now has been one used Blue knob. I need one for my beater truck. Plier marks allowed.

Edmond, work has been pretty slow for everyone but me. We have a new rule on OT. Nobody is allowed OT but me, and I have been getting my share. Usually 11 hour days. They layed off about 50 people last week and I think I am covering those hours. Have not had much time for the shop.
Then when I do get home, busy here. I picked up another 180 acres to manage for deer and turkey. Have been burning fields until last night. In between burning ( can't burn on the windy days) I have been putting in food plots. Prepped a 3/4 acre spot down in the timber on Monday. Planted the Clover Tuesday night. Been discing for some row crops Wed. to Saturday. Rain started today so I will seed 20 acres tomorrow night if I can. Various things. Lespedieza, millet, sorghum, sunflowers, beans, corn, Ladino clover and more. Will get back on the shop soon. Then I get ready for company in August !!

I clicked on this old thread expecting to see that axle painted, assembled and mounted in a freshly painted chassis.
Kevin, thanks for bringing that video by, it might as well have been porn, nobody here wants to see it but me.

You are welcome. But if you get excited by some old fat guy doing bodywork, well, we will have to re-evaluate our friendship.
Ha-ha.

Do you manage a wild game farm or is all that for your own private hunting?
Keep the progress pics coming.

Went to the shop last night and shot the primer coat. Closed up and let it hang in 80 degrees for the night. Went back today and shot the paint. I will start the rebuild tomorrow.
