Sounds like junk got under the needle from moving and tilting the carb around. Qjets are easy to take the airhorn off and check the needle and seat.

Re: AHHHH, UGH, and dang. . .

If you buy the Holley, please learn from my experience. I don't know if they're making those things overseas now, but I chased a problem for months because of what turned out to be a bad casting job. I just assumed that everything had to be good inside because it was new, but that isn't necessarily the case anymore. I couldn't get it idle for more than a couple of days without re-tuning. Tried everything. Finally took it apart and there were some burrs that were keeping the float from seating completely. Had to polish the burrs out and everything runs great now.

So, if you get installed and it starts acting flakey pick up a rebuild kit and check that thing inside and out.

Good luck!

I don't know about the horn, but the whir is alternator whine. That would be an issue w/where he tapped power from and where the wires are running. Check the grounds too.

Re: AHHHH, UGH, and dang. . .

I have a Thunder series AVS Edelbrock carb and it fired up with no adjustment right out of the box. Very easy to tune. Just tossing it out there as an option, nothing against Holley.
